I don’t know about you, but I want to be a person who has the privilege of sojourning in the Lord’s tent and dwelling on his holy hill. These are metaphors for living and abiding in his glorious presence. To use New Testament language instead of the language of the Psalmist, I want to walk in the Spirit, filled with his Spirit, consciously aware of his presence and power at all times. The great news is that if you walk along the path of life with the Lord and you trip and fall, you won’t do a faceplant. Why not? Because the Lord, your Father, is holding your hand as you walk, and when you trip, he’s got you. You might skin a knee a little and be embarrassed, but no faceplant. The Psalmist says it this way, “he shall not be cast headlong.” In our vernacular, it is better understood as not doing a faceplant.

In the midst of the chaos and upheaval of the past couple of years in the United States, many are losing perspective. It appears evil is winning. We have experienced anarchy in many American cities. Many elected officials are refusing to enforce the law. Woke leadership is doing the unthinkable by defunding the police departments in many cities so the people cannot be protected from the lawless hordes that run rampant in those cities. Somehow this is supposed to be good. Crime rates have risen. Murders have risen.

Justice is a frequently used word these days, especially when referred to as social justice. Unfortunately, there are various definitions of what justice is. In the popular culture of the West, it is most often understood in terms of social justice as defined by the political left, especially those of the more radical variety. It is nearly synonymous with Critical Race Theory and has become the setting for battles in State Houses with new legislation outlawing that kind of “justice.”

Overcoming the effects of lockdown, etc.

Lots of people are experiencing bad effects from the lockdown that many have experienced due to government mandates in an attempt to control COVID-19. Fortunately, it is beginning to look like we are seeing the end of this plague in our midst. This week the governor of Texas opened up the state 100% from any restrictions on his citizens. Other governors appear to be ready to do the same soon.

My story in brief…

Christ first came into my life at the age of 5 during a series of evangelistic meetings in our tiny country Quaker church house in Gate, Oklahoma. Since then it has been a process of “Stumbling forward by grace, through faith in Christ.” I experienced a significant personal revival at the age of 19 and have been much in love with the Lord ever since…five decades-plus.

My passion is to enjoy the Lord by encouraging others to make progress in their lives…living life successfully. I do that primarily through my disciple-making efforts and through my writing.

I spent about 20 years in public ministry and at the age of 40 decided that I had allowed my passion for ministry to impede my prior duty to my family, so I stepped aside. I found a new career as a financial advisor and now make my living serving my financial planning clients.

I now consider myself to be a bi-vocational minister of the gospel.
